The Josef Seibel brand was founded in 1886 by Carl-August Seibel whom having first produced shoes within his own home, finally bought a factory in Hauenstein, Germany. Seibel created his brand upon a philosophy of dedication to comfort and quality, leading to Josef Seibel's status as “The European Comfort Shoe”.
The brand, like many did suffer hardships during the recession of the 1970's but continued to pioneer new designs and styles whilst never compromising their original philosophy. Riding the storm, Josef Seibel footwear continued its success into the 1980's, extending its production sites to Romania, Hungry, alongside the original Hauenstein location.
The Josef Seibel brand still remains with the Seibel family, entering it's fourth generation, merely adding to the pride and dedication that Carl-August Seibel first built the company upon. As one of Europe's longest serving footwear manufacturers, Josef Seibel shoes and boots, all 5 million of them a year, are currently distributed across the world to 40 different countries. Thus, since day one, Josef Seibel have moulded their shoes to the varying fashions and styles whilst always retaining their comfort and exceptional calibre of their shoes.
This dedication is seen in the continuing productions of the traditional craftsmanship, with their manufacturing being carried out by hand where possible. The Airped System® is a pioneering technology that Josef Seibel have used within their shoes, allowing them to produce shoes of comfort for their customers. With shock-absorbing features within their shoes, Josef Seibel have ensured that pressure points within the body that are normally affected during walking are somewhat reduced; including the ankles, knees and hips. A foam component also cushions the foot, allowing for a natural contouring of the foot, supporting the foots natural movements and overall improving the posture. Also incorporated within the Airped System is an activated carbon which allows perspiration created by the foot to be effectively absorbed to enable a healthier, more comfortable environment for the foot.
