Hunter Wellingtons – A History:
Hunter wellingtons were first established by an American entrepreneur, Henry Norris who founded Hunter Boot Ltd (as the North British Rubber Company initially) in Edinburgh, Scotland. The Hunter wellington soon became both a practical wellington for many, e.g. farmers, and a fashionable wellington. However, it was during World War I that the sheer practicality of the Hunter wellington was found with its distribution to over a million soldiers. These were again distributed in World War II before they soon became a fashionable, practical wellington for many, no more so than in the 1950's when the Original Green Hunter Wellington was introduced.
Remaining popular today, Hunter continue to make wellingtons that adhere to their original designs and qualities. However, Hunter have also adopted various different fashion styles, making wellingtons that are not only practical but stylish. What's more, Hunter are constantly introducing new designs and styles that are built upon the original Hunter wellington. See our informative guide below for the fantastic range of Hunter wellingtons available today.
Hunter Wellingtons in Brief:
Original Hunter Wellington – this wellington remains a firm favourite for people purchasing Hunter wellies, but they have also introduced numerous other diversifying colours and finishes. For example, the Original Gloss Hunter Wellingtons come in many different colours, including pillar box red, fuchsia and violet. Also available in a Metallic finish, the wellingtons have a stylish silver finish, with popular colours including Midnight Blue. Both styles add a touch of luxury and vibrancy to the original Hunter wellingtons.
Balmoral Sporting Hunter Wellington – an even more durable and high-performing wellington than the traditional Hunter wellies. With a durable sole that offers even more durability and traction, this Hunter wellington is designed for those looking for a wellington boot that can meet up to the highest of demands.
Regent Savoy Hunter Wellington – one of the latest editions to Hunter, and this wellington has been well worth the wait. From it's unique diamond pattern gloss finish to its equestrian fit, this wellington is one of a stylish, sleek finish.
Carnaby Boa Hunter Wellington – an incredibly fashionable alternative to the normal Hunter wellingtons, the Carnaby Boa has a superior snake skin finish, allowing this wellington to be suitable footwear for much more than a dog walking boot.
Hamstead Tall Hunter Wellington – with the traditional bottom of a Hunter wellington, the Hamstead Tall offers a sophisticated, fashionable alternative with its natural shearling cuff at the top of the boot.
No matter what style of Hunter wellington you may choose, you can be rest assured that your wellingtons will include Hunter's comforting, supporting and practical features alongside whatever additional stylish attributes the wellington includes. All of their wellies are made with a natural rubber sole, sponge lining, standard neoprene lining and the vulcanized rubber of the main wellington boot. Hunter wellingtons are also built on orthopaedic lasts, ensuring they are both comfy, supportive and practical.
