In 1886, Josef Seibel was founded by Carl-August Seibel, who began the footwear company from his own home, where he worked constantly to meet the demands of his customers, making shoes in various different styles and sizes. Evidently, by manufacturing the shoes from his own home he couldn't meet these demands, meaning he had to buy a factory in Haunestein, Germany during the year of 1907. Just one hundred years later and this footwear brand has established a worldwide reputation as the European Comfort Shoe and the factory of Haunestein remains.
The 1970's saw a recession, and Josef Seibel felt the grip of this, meaning they were going to have to ride the storms to succeed. Therefore, the footwear brand continued the production of their shoes to the same high standard whilst trying to incorporate new styles and innovations to weather this storms. By doing this, the brand were rewarded with further success in the 1980's, expanding their factories and new offices into Hungary, Germany and Romania. With this expansion, Josef Seibel became one of the largest shoe manufacturers in Europe, continually maintaining their comfort and quality.
Moving into the 21st Century, as they continue to be one of Europe's longest serving manufacturers of exceptional shoes, Josef Seibel retains its brand philosophies, predominantly due to its remaining within the Josef Seibel family. The original philosophies of Carl-August Seibel have continued and maintain the brand he began in his own home, all the while employing the same craftsmanship of 1886. The brand is now within its fourth generation of Seibel's, with 5 million shoes a year being produced and available in over forty countries across the world. The massive production of these high-quality shoes shows the sheer popularity and demand for a dedicated shoe brand that continues to retain quality, comfort and style.
