Rockport Footwear – Cleaning & Caring For Your Rockport Boots & Shoes

Made with the highest quality of materials and craftsmanship, the Rockport boots and shoes provide the wearer with a durable, comfortable shoe that requires little maintenance. However, in order to preserve the life of your Rockport's it is important to follow a few do's and don'ts:

Do wipe your leather shoes with a damp cloth to clean them before polish – always allow your shoes to dry naturally before polishing.
Do clean Suede and Nubuck leather with a suede/nubuck eraser. Afterwards, always brush your Rockport shoes and boots with a specialised brush to return your shoe to its original texture. You can also use a silicon spray to protect your suede/nubuck shoes but be aware of any darkening of the leather.
Do clean fabric uppers of Rockport shoes with warm water, ensuring you don not scrub any additional leather features on the upper of the shoe.
Do protect your shoes with a silicon spray or equivalent before you begin wearing your leather shoes. This will protect them from stains and water, but you should consult manufacturers guidelines before to ensure that the spray is compatible with the material of the shoe, as some sprays can darken leather. Equally, you must ensure that the spray you are using will not affect the waterproof ability of your Rockport shoes.
Do clean your Gore-Tex linings at least twice a year to reduce bacteria and clean. Using some mild soap and a damp cloth, rubbing them gently to clean. You should then dry these naturally; hanging them outside for example.
Do remove the inserts of your shoes to clean, again using warm soapy water and a scrubbing brush. You should always leave these to dry naturally before returning them to your Rockport shoes.
Do clean the oustoles of your shoes as required with a damp cloth; or brush dry dirt off with a brush.
Do use a shoe tree within your Rockport shoes when you are not wearing in order to maintain the shape of your shoe.
Do allow your Rockport shoes and boots to dry as they can become damp with perspiration and moisture. By allowing them to dry and rest it gives time for them to recover, allowing maximum comfort and durability.
Don't force your shoes on as this can tread the back of your shoe down; always use a shoe horn if you have got difficulty when putting your shoes on.
Don't dry your Rockport's in front of any artificial forms of heat; e.g. radiators / fires as this can severely damage the properties of your shoes and affect their performance.
Don't polish Rockport shoes and boots when they are wet, always allow to dry naturally first.
Don't tumble dry the inserts of your shoes unless manufacturers guidelines recommend so. Machine washing or tumble drying your inserts could affect their shape and performance.
Don't machine wash your Rockport shoes unless it is specifically recommended within the manufacturers guidelines. If your shoes are not machine washable then there are plenty of other cleaning methods that can be carried out quickly and easily.
