The high-quality sheepskin that EMU boots are made from enables you peace of mind that your boots are exceptionally durable, resilient and won't take much upkeep and maintenance. However, it is a good idea to do all you can to retain the natural quality and appearance of your EMU boots, by ensuring that dirt doesn't build up over time and this couldn't be simpler. To maintain their appearance, here are a few tips and hints:
Do get rid of any lose dirt that may accumulate on your boots with a soft brush. Equally, if this is carried out as and when your boots have accumulated dirt, it should prevent the dirt from sticking to your boots. |
Do use a spot eraser if you find any spots or stains appear on your boots, this will help remove the stains and dirt from your boots, which can then be brushed away with a soft brush. |
Do return your boots to the shop you purchased them from or consult a specialised sheepskin expert if you find that a stain will not budge. Typically this would occur with oils, fizzy drinks and other tough stains. |
Do stuff your boots with newspaper when drying them as this will help retain the shape of your boots. |
Do re-brush your boots after you have dried them, this will remove any of the dirt that has been brought to the surface. |
Don't use any harsh cleaning products or chemicals on your boots as these could ruin the natural material of the boots. You should always use ones that have been recommended by the manufacturer. |
Don't place your boots in a washing machine or tumble dryer. |
Don't soak your EMU boots completely, even if they are quite dirty. You should use a cold damp cloth to wipe any dirt from the boot, before scrubbing with a soft brush and rinsing again with the damp cloth. All EMU boots will change shade during this process but they will return to their normal colour afterwards. |
Don't place them near artificial heat sources, e.g. radiators, and don't use hair-dryers to dry. |
