As a footwear brand that is respected globally for its exceptional outdoor, rugged traditional boots, Timberland have always remained one step ahead of many of their competitors, ever since they introduced the first waterproof boot in 1973. Their Spring collection continues these innovations with a twist to their footwear that makes this new collection of boots even more water-resistant and hard-wearing than any of its predecessors.
The new technology that Timberland are introducing to their brand is the ion-mask™ technology by P2i and Bionic® canvas that innovates the boots without ridding them of their traditional Timberland style.
Always wanting to maintain their brand philosophy, Timberland introduce this new stylish collection of boots with pride; as they retain the brands environmental attitude as well as continuing to provide their customers with boots of practicality and traditional style.

with ion-mask™ Technology by P2i
Ion-mask Technology™ by P2i – This technology coats the canvas with a liquid repellent nano-coating technology. The coating is a thousand times thinner than a human hair, which means it is completely invisible and weightless after it has been applied to the boot; but its efficiency means it turns water into beads that roll straight off the shoe upon contact. The invisible properties of the shoe also allow the boot to keep its natural airflow within the shoe material, which leaves it breathable, removing moisture from the wearers foot whilst also resisting water from outside.
Bionic® canvas – This material is made from 50% organic cotton, which is then wrapped around 8% recycled PET core and 12% HT polyester. This creates a double helix structure that provides a material that is 30% stronger than an ordinary canvas, whilst also being aesthetically and physically the same as a natural cotton canvas. The canvas can also be dried 30% faster than a natural cotton canvas, as well as being twice as abrasion-resistant and breathable. For Spring 2011, this innovative material is a must-have, and has only been used by Timberland thus far. The Bionic® company itself is also co-owned by Pharrell Williams, producer and musician.
Speaking about their new range, Timberland's Senior Director of Marketing for North America said:
"Canvas is known for being tough but also lightweight and breathable – perfect attributes for spring and summer outdoor adventures...But it has also had its limitations...until now. Timberland is excited to bring innovation to canvas footwear this spring, making it tougher than ever and highly resistant to water and stains, without sacrificing breathability. That means these shoes will withstand the elements even better, and stay looking great even longer."
