LPGA Tour rookie, Gerina Piller, has been announced as the latest edition to Ecco's prestigious list of staff players. Wearing two styles that have already taken the golfing world by storm, Piller will don Ecco Golf Street and Biom styles to parade on the golf course.
At just 26-years-old, Piller has already achieved a fantastic amount in her golfing career; recently ranking at fifth place on the 2010 Futures Tour money list, which gave her her full LPGA Tour status. As a native of New Mexico, Piller (nee Gerina Mendoza) began her career in golf during her late teens, but broke into the public eye when she finished as runner-up three times last year as well as leading the Futures Tour with her driving distance. Recently marrying Martin Piller, PGA Tour player, Gerina looks set to storm the golfing world.
Marketing Manager of Ecco Golf, Jesper Thuen, comments:
'The world first came to know Gerina through her appearance on Golf Channel's Big Break Prince Edward Island...Since then, she's proved she has serious game to go along with her beauty and personality. We're all excited to watch her career reach new heights now that she's competing full time on the LPGA Tour.'
Piller will be wearing the Ecco Golf Street range; an innovative style of shoe that was first made famous on the feet of Freddie Couples. With all of the technology and features of a classic golf shoe, the Golf Street has a trainer-like appearance, which is why it caused such a stir initially. The style allows golfers to walk around their local golf course before walking down the street without even having to change their footwear!
She will also be wearing their recent edition to the golfing footwear family, the Ecco Biom, which is another innovative new style that accentuates the 'natural motion' of the foot. The idea of the Biom is to allow the shoe to follow the foot and not the other way around. Ecco have removed any items within footwear that they do not think necessary and emphasise their belief in the power of the foot itself. The Biom is an incredibly high-performing shoe as well as comfortable, enhancing the natural motion of the foot.
