Joseph Cheaney started the company Joseph Cheaney and Sons in 1886. In 1896 with his brother Arthur Cheaney they moved to a new factory located at Rushton Road Desborough, Northamptonshire. The company still occupies this site today making true English heritage footwear. Cheaney are proud to boast that the entire making process is still 100% UK based. This fact alone distinguishes them from most of their competition who have made the error of producing offshore with all the quality control issues that are associated with it.
Joseph Cheaney offers many Bench Grade products. Of the highest quality is the Signature Collection, for a different more on trend look they offer the Avant Garde collection. The Avante Garde collection contains some of the most popular Cheaney product such as Darcy, Dustin, Rory, Ronny and Oliver. Perhaps the collection which demonstrates the skill of the Joseph Cheaney workforce the most is the Country Collection. Using the Veldtschoen construction method they offer some fantastic quality boots and shoes. Cairngorm and Neath proving the most favoured. In brief the Veldtschoen shoe offers a waterproofed upper without the need for membranes or linings. If the buyer needs a country or fieldsports shoe they really should be wearing nothing but a Cheaney Veldtschoen.
A full refurbishment service is offered at the factory. This proves to be the most economic option to prolong the life of your Cheaney shoes. Local repair if not of the highest grade can spoil a good shoe at the least and render many a total loss. Returning the shoes to the original lasts the shoe is rebuilt not repaired. When they come back they are as good as new.
